Vilamoura is a well planned purpose built holiday resort. Most evening activity centres around the modern and stylish Vilamoura Marina, which offers a variety of fashionable boutiques and excellent cafes, bars and restaurants in a pleasant, cosmopolitan atmosphere. Sophisticated shows and entertainment are provided at the Casino and large resort hotels.
On either side of the Marina, the resort also offers two large sandy beaches
for lazing in the sunshine. Vilamoura is sure to appeal to active holidaymakers
as it is equipped with excellent sports facilities including tennis, fishing
and horse riding. The resort is a true golfers paradise with five golf
courses dominating the local area.
Neighbouring Quarteira was originally a fishing village, but in recent years has grown into a bustling modern holiday resort. The newly pedestrianised promenade offers excellent shopping and dining opportunities overlooking the soft sandy beach, and is sure to increase the popularity of this area.
The Algarve is famous for a number of reasons including the production of full bodied, fruity and high alcoholic content red wines. One such producer is Sir Cliff Richard under the Vida Nova label
